Escaped Prisoner Caught In High-Speed Chase

The St. Landry Parish inmate who escaped while being transferred to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center has been caught. After a 30-mile high-speed chase involving multiple authorities, including Pine Prairie and Turkey Creek officials, Matthew Keyes was arrested. Evangeline Parish Authorities say Keyes was driving an SUV he stole last night when he allegedly committed several burglaries. After Keyes was captured, authorities say they found illegal drugs on him as well. Keyes now sits in the Evangeline Parish Jail.
