50-year-old Charles Johnson Jr. has been rearrested on marijuana charges after getting pulled over last month for allegedly driving after he had been drinking.

Back in October, an off duty deputy with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department called the Eunice Police Department to let them know he was following Johnson on LSUE Drive near the college campus because he suspected him to possibly be drunk. Once Johnson entered the city limits, Eunice PD stopped him at the intersection of Viola and Gum Avenue.

After a field sobriety test, it was determined Johnson had been drinking but wasn't intoxicated. He was still arrested on charges of careless operation, open container and driving with a suspended drivers license.

After his car was impounded, inventory officers say they found a pound of marijuana. An arrest warrant was then issued for Johnson. When officers found him days later at his home at 1350 West Vine Street, they say they found an additional quarter of a pound of marijuana inside, as well as several items related to drug activity, items such as rolling papers, a digital scale and baggies used to package marijuana.

Johnson is in the Eunice City Jail on a total bond of $40,000: $13,500 for the first case and $26,500 for the second case. Johnson faces the following charges:

Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (2 counts)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)
Violation of the Uniform CDS Law (2 counts) * Drug Free Zone
Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of persons Under 17 years of age
Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
