Eunice Man Dies In House Fire; Daughter Escapes

A house fire claims the life of one elderly man and injures his daughter. It happened around 7 AM this morning on 711 North 3rd Street in Eunice. When City Firefighers got to the house, they found the body of 90-year-old Alvin Reed on the rear porch; he apparently died while attempting to escape the burning building. His daughter escaped, suffering burns and smoke inhalation. She's in the hospital in stable condition. State Fire Marshal Deputies have been on the scene investigating. At this time no cause has been determined. It appears that no working smoke alarms were in the home.
