Eunice police say they have arrested a man after a woman came into their department to report she had been sexually assaulted and held against her will by him.

The victim told police she knew the suspect.  Police found 27-year-old Duane Ruiz at his home on Dudley Street in Eunice, and they took him into custody without incident.

The woman told them during the domestic violence incident Ruiz would not allow her to leave.

He was charged with:

  • Domestic Abuse Battery by strangulation
  • False Imprisonment
  • Simple Rape

27th Judicial District Judge James Doherty set Ruiz's bond at $42,500, and he is still in the Eunice City Jail at this time.

Deputy Chief Varden Guillory says their investigation is still ongoing.
