** UPDATE ** Eunice Shooting Leaves One Injured – Another Dead

One of the victims and the shooter in the Sunday morning shooting in Eunice have been identified. 31 year old Jordy F. Bellard of Eunice was shot and killed. 34 year old Kenneth Prather has been arrested and charged with second degree murder and a number of drug offenses. The female shooting victim was treated and released from a local hospital and has not been identified. The investigation continues.
At approximately 8:00am today St. Landry Parish Detectives were called out to a home on Shelton Manuel Road to investigate a shooting. Thus far detectives have determined that two men were involved in a heated argument that led to shots being fired. A 31 year old man died from the gunfire and a 31 year old woman received a gunshot wound in the arm. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and then taken into custody as the investigation continues. The other man involved in the incident was also taken into custody. A handgun and shotgun were removed from the scene.
