Additional Information

The official arrival of Santa to Lafayette will take place on Sunday, December 3rd in the annual Sonic Christmas Parade.  The parade will begin this year at 1:00pm in downtown Lafayette at the Jefferson Street underpass and will conclude in the Oil Center.  Santa is certainly the star of this event, but there will also be floats, high school marching bands and dance clubs.  Kids should bring their letters to Santa to the parade where they will be collected and mailed to the North Pole.  The Sonic Christmas Parade, a perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit.

Lafayette does not have a Veteran’s Day parade and since that day is so close to the Christmas parade, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to combine the two events.  All veterans from every branch of the military are urged to march (or ride) in the parade.  Transportation will be provided and there is no charge to participate.  Veterans are asked to arrive at noon and to wear their uniforms or colors.   Veterans are to report to Vine St between 2nd St & Jefferson at noon and they will be directed to their position in the parade.  This will be an excellent opportunity for Lafayette and Acadiana residents to show their appreciation for the men and women who have served in the armed forces.
