BAKER, La. (AP) — A former Baker City Court probation officer has been arrested after allegedly accepting a $200 bribe from a former city employee who had to take a drug test because of an accident.

The Advocate reports 50-year-old Peron McCastle was booked Thursday at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of public bribery.

Greg Phares, chief investigator for the Inspector General's Office, says the FBI investigated the case initially and then turned it over to the state Office of Inspector General for possible prosecution on a state charge.

McCastle was dismissed from his probation officer's job on Sept. 30, 2011.

It was unclear whether McCastle has an attorney.
