LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) — Former Livingston Parish President Mike Grimmer's domestic abuse battery trial was postponed Tuesday for the second time and now will be heard in March.

Grimmer, who was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on May 31 on a count of misdemeanor domestic abuse battery after an altercation with his wife, appeared in Walker Municipal Court for a hearing in the case, but his wife, Janet Grimmer, did not show up.

The Advocate reports Grimmer told the court his wife had not been served a subpoena to appear in court and he asked for a continuance.

Judge Todd Caruso said he was hesitant to continue the case because the first hearing on Nov. 5 had been postponed.

But Caruso agreed to delay it one more time to March 18.
