SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A former nursing home in Shreveport will re-open as a boarding school for boys next year under plans announced by a church.

Magnolia Management Services donated the Westwood Manor nursing home property to the Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church on Tuesday. The management company closed Westwood Manor after building another nursing home.

Larry Brandon, Praise Temple's pastor and CEO, told The Times (http://bit.ly/KzlAXH ) he hopes to open the L.L. Brandon Academy of Arts and Sciences with kindergarten through fifth grade for the 2013-14 school year. The school would phase in grades over another two years until it offers kindergarten through 12th grade.
