LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — A former Lake Charles priest has been sentenced to two life sentences, plus 50 years, for sexually abusing altar boys in the late 1980s and early '90s.

Mark Broussard was sentenced Friday on two counts of aggravated rape and one each of molesting a juvenile, oral sexual battery and aggravated oral sexual battery. The rape charges carry mandatory life sentences.

KPLC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1TDqYev ) that Judge David Ritchie said he was disgusted by the former priest's refusal to accept responsibility for what he did. He said Broussard claimed that at least one child made sexual advances to him.

The American Press (http://bit.ly/22bvsdI ) reports that prosecutor Cynthia Killingsworth said afterward that victims hurt for years. She said the trial got their story out and may lead to closure for them.
