Expansion Plan Of Sugarena In New Iberia Being Proposed This Week

Expansion could come soon to the Sugarena if development plans are approved.

The commission overseeing the facility wants to add 4-and-a-half million dollars of new construction which would include recreation areas, pavilions, and refreshment areas. Iberia Parish Council member Bernard Broussard says he plans on asking the council Wednesday to approve spending for an engineering study of the plans. He says he hopes the project could be complete by the end of next year.
