Failure To Update Sex Offender Registration Gets Shreveport Man 2 years In Prison

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says 33 year old Justin Ray Merritt of Shreveport was sentenced to 24 months in prison for failing to upgrade his sex offender status when he moved. District Judge Donald Walter also sentenced Merritt to five years of supervised release. Merritt reported his home to be in Shreveport in December of 2013 but was found to be living in Texarkana, Texas in August of 2014. Merritt was originally convicted in 2004 of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in Caddo Parish.
