A Florida couple with a 10-year-old child wants answers from a cruise line after finding a hidden camera in their room.

The family (who wants to remain anonymous) was aboard a 3-night Carnival cruise from Mobile to Mexico.

The father says he was suffering from an allergy attack the first and second night of the cruise when they decided to check for dust around their cabin. During their search, they stumbled upon the hidden camera behind their television.

It was warm too the touch, yes. It was like wired directly into the TV's power, I jerked those out and I jerked the power out the back of the TV, so it would not be powered on. Before thinking about it I went to remove the antenna or the transmitter that was part of the circuit board.

Security was called immediately and the family says they recorded how the staff handled the situation. On video, the father can be heard offering advice to the security chief and in the end, the family claims they were dissatisfied with the way the situation was handled.

Fox 10 reached out to Carnival Cruise Line who offered the following statement:

In October, a small, non-working camera was found in a cabin aboard Carnival Fantasy during a cruise departing from Mobile, Ala. After review by the ship’s technicians, it was determined that device was not operational.

A full investigation was conducted by the shipboard team in tandem with Carnival’s shoreside security personnel who also notified U.S. law enforcement, including the FBI, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and local police, when the ship arrived in Mobile following the cruise.

We have no insight into why this camera was placed or who placed it there but our investigation found that the camera was not in working condition.

While this was a one-off occurrence, nevertheless we take all matters of security and privacy very seriously and are reviewing this matter with our shipboard and shoreside security management.

The father believes the camera was transmitting to a recorded located somewhere else and are still displeased with the way the matter was handled. The family's lawyer agreed, saying:

We think that this is either a deliberate cover-up or just a very haphazard clueless way that the security officer disconnected the devices

The family hasn't filed a lawsuit and claims they only want an apology, but haven't heard from anyone at Carnival.

What would you do if you found a hidden camera in a room that you were staying in?
