Family Of Slain Gabrielle Spencer Asking For Donations Toward Funeral

LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- The family of Gabrielle Spencer, the 18-year-old woman allegedly beaten to death a week ago by her roommate, is asking for the public's assistance with her funeral and burial expenses.

The family has set up an account online to accept donations. So far they have raised $3,700 with a goal of reaching $5,000.

Spencer was found in her Morning Glory Square apartment last Wednesday with severe bruising all over her body.

Her roommate, 24-year-old Adam Batiste, was charged with second degree murder.

Spencer's family says she was just a month shy of her nineteenth birthday.
