A family makes it out safely after their home catches fire this morning. Lafayette fire investigator Alton Trahan says the West Gilman Street home went up in flames just before 9 AM this morning. Trahan says a 17-year-old son in the home noticed the fire in the kitchen. He suffered minor burns when he tried to put it out. It's believed the fire started from the stove and spread to other areas of the kitchen. The fire has been ruled as accidental.
