An farming accident in a rice bin claimed the life of a Morse man yesterday afternoon.

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson says this all started at around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon when farmers were working near rice bins in the area of Faulk and Benton Roads.

The victim, 45-year-old Wayne Richard, accidentally fell into a rice bin.

Those on the scene say Richard was consumed by rice why everyone at the scene, along with first responders, were trying desperately to rescue the man.

The man was eventually pulled out of the bin and first responders tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office.

Sheriff Gibson says,

"This tragic incident has been ruled accidental and the investigation is closed. I would like to personally thank the many farmers and first responders who fought to save Mr. Richard."
