Father Charged In Death Of 23-Month-Old Daughter

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A 37-year-old Shreveport man has been arrested in the death of his 23-month-old daughter.

The Times reports that Marquice McNeil was booked into the city jail Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his daughter Aliyah West.

West was found unconscious and unresponsive by emergency crews Wednesday at McNeil's home. She was taken to Willis Knighton Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The newspaper reports that in the past seven months the deaths of four Shreveport-area children have resulted in murder charges being brought against a parent or other person.
