A father and son are lucky to be alive after their boat capsized in St. Martin Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says Russ and Michael Tircuit were duck hunting on Duck Lake when their boat struck an object, causing it to veer hard to the right and send the pair into the water.

Russ was wearing a kill switch which cut off power to the motor. Michael called 9-1-1 from his cell phone, and they were rescued less than an hour later.

Both men were taken to Franklin Foundation Hospital and treated for hypothermia.
