At tomorrow night's Lafayette City-Parish Council meeting, City-Parish President Joey Durel will recognize February as "Clean Up Our City Month".

Durel says, "February is a great month to motivate all our residents to do their part to keep Lafayette beautiful.   With the unveiling of the Comprehensive Plan this month as well, which advocates several beautification action items, we hope to draw the public's attention to their part in making Lafayette an attractive community, for our own residents, and for visitors."

The Louisiana Garden Club Federation will be holding their Annual Cleanest City Contest, and Lafayette has won the Cleanest City Contest in their category for the last two years.

Durel says he is encouraging everyone in Lafayette to work up cleanign up litter and waste from:

  • Yards
  • Businesses
  • Parking lots
  • Vacant lots

He is hoping people will:

  • Cut grass and weeds
  • Disposing of waste like cans, paper and other debris
