A federal judge in Louisiana has upheld Louisiana's ban on same sex-marriages. This ruling breaks a trend of over 20-plus rulings overturning same-sex marriage bans since the United States Supreme Court decision last year.

Judge Martin Feldman said in his ruling that the state and the democratic process have the right to define marriage.

The plaintiffs in the case plan to appeal the decision to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
