Two people who used to be employed at LSU-Eunice are being accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the institution.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley's office has charged Marvette Thomas and Carra Sergent with one count each of stealing federal funds.

They were charged in a federal bill of indictment made public this week.

Federal prosecutors allege that Thomas, while employed at the school, took $68,464, and they allege that former employee Sergent took $74,653.

Both Thomas and Sergent worked in the Office of Academic Affairs at LSU-Eunice.

Prosecutors say they took advantage of the school's procurement system.
