The Cameron Parish School Board will be getting federal disaster recovery grant money to the tune of $1.4 million.

U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu announced the grants yesterday.  Landrieu chairs The Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommitee.

The grant money will be used by the school board to pay for upgrades at school facilities that were damage during Hurricane Rita in 2005.

Landrieu's office says the grants are being given through The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Hazard Mitigation and Public Assistance programs.
