If you get a text message claiming to be from FEMA in 2018, you may want to use caution.

Matt Gholston, an engineer for Townsquare Media who has been dealing with FEMA ever since his home flooded in 2018, received a text message from the government agency today which read: "Starting 1/1/2018, and until further notice, FEMA will no longer send text messages.  You will continue to receive updates by email or postal mail."

So, as there unfortunately many people who try to take advantage of those in need, please be careful if you receive any texts in 2018 claiming to be from FEMA.
