NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) — A bear that's been roaming around Iberia Parish since Saturday has been caught.

Wildlife and Fisheries agents say the older female bear wandered more than two miles since first being spotted over the weekend.

KATC TV reports the bear was caught Monday night.

The bear was approximately 150 pounds and had not caused anyone any harm.

New Iberia resident Brody Champagne said the bear climbed a tree before wildlife agents tranquilized it. The bear then fell onto a safety mat. Agents released the bear in her home range in St. Mary Parish on the coast.
