This week on "Wingin' It Wednesday", panelist Carol Ross and Warren Caudle joined "Nathan and Bernie in the Morning" to discuss the troubling situation in Ferguson, Missouri and the possible over militarization of police.

Here's what the panel had to say:

1. In light of what's happening in Ferguson, Missouri, are local police forces starting to resemble military organizations? Have they become overly militarized?

Carol Ross started us off:

I have a problem with this question. If you need somebody to help you, you don’t care what they look like or what kind of equipment they have. This is a diversion of the real problems in this county, people always hustling some problem to their own benefit.
Everything people thought they knew about this in the early going has been turned on its head. Before everybody rushes to judgement I think we should sit back and stop trying to take advantage of the situation.

Warren Caudle posited

The key word in this thing is tragic. Are the police departments becoming more militarized? Yes they are, because the federal government is pushing them to. You’ve got armored personnel and sniper training, and all that kinda stuff. You train you train, and sooner or later you want to use that training.

The problem that’s so deeply rooted is that on the other side of the tracks, they are over serviced with police department and under serviced with economy. We need some long term solutions.
