HOUMA, La. (AP) — The final recommendations on how Terrebonne Parish residents should pay for a $180 million gap in the parish's hurricane protection system should be available soon.

The Courier reports the Morganza Funding Task Force will meet Thursday to make recommendations.

The task force of residents, business owners and government officials will discuss whether the Terrebonne Levee District should ask voters to approve a sales tax, a property tax, a bond proposal or some mixture of all three in order to pay for the remaining work needed to finish the Morganza levee system.

Morganza is a system of 10-foot levees and floodgates the Levee District is building to protect Terrebonne from storm flooding.
