Fire Claims The Life Of A Lafayette Woman
Lafayette Fire Department officials were called out to home on Ambroise Street today after a fire in a woman's bedroom. 77-year-old Geneive McZeal was using an oxygen tube around 2:30 this morning when she decided to smoke.
Firefighters believe that the fire likely started when she was smoking. The believe the oxygen ignited producing a flash fire that took her life.
Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was an accident. The dwelling sustained minor smoke and fire damage.
