Firefighters in Lafayette working an early morning blaze early yesterday morning.

Investigators say a home on Dear Street caught fire just after midnight yesterday, destroying the home and causing damage to the owner's car and boat.

Jason McMahan was asleep when the fire sparked, but he was able to leave safely after a neighbor banged on his door to wake him up. Investigators believe the fire started on the back porch, but the cause remains under investigation.
