BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) — More than 800 firefighters are battling a wildfire that has destroyed more than a dozen homes in the forested mountains of California's scenic Big Sur region.

Weather has been working in firefighters' favor up to now, and the blaze has been moving slowly.

It has consumed a little more than one square mile in Los Padres National Forest and is about 20 percent contained.
