First Six Months Of 2011 Driest Ever

As it turns out, the first six months of 2011 will go down as the driest on record in Louisiana.

State Climatologist Barry Keim says the state received only 17-point-seven-inches of rain for the period.  That breaks the old record by two-tenths of an inch.  The normal rainfall rate is in excess of 30 inches.
