LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Five Lafayette Parish School Board members could be fined for missing too many meetings during 2012.

According to a report released today, two of those members, Greg Awbrey and Tommy Angelle, missed more than a quarter of the year's 70 meetings.

Board policy states members are allowed to miss up to five meetings. Any unexcused absence after that point incurs a $100 penalty per absence.

In Awbrey's case, he could be fined $1,400 for his 19 absences, while Angelle's 18 absences could cost him $1,300.

Rae Trahan issed 16 meetings, Tehmi Chassion missed 11, and Mark Babineaux missed six.

The matter will be addressed at Wednesday night's school board meeting.
