Five Thursday night games involving Acadiana area schools kickoff the second week of the 2016 high school football schedule.

The five games are listed below:

St. Thomas More at Byrd:

Both teams are 0-1, with St. Thomas More falling to Sulphur, 38-35, in their first game, while Byrd lost to Barbe, 33-7. This is the second-consecutive week that the Cougars, a 4A school, is playing up against a 5A school.

West St. Mary at Northwest:

West St. Mary, a 2A school, dropped a tough 14-6 game to Beau Chene in week one, while Northwest, a 3A school, rolled to a 42-6 win over St. Edmund.

Sacred Heart (Ville Platte) at Port Barre:

Sacred Heart had high hopes coming into the season, and they didn't disappoint in week one, defeating Iota, 34-26, while Port Barre dropped their opener, falling to Opelousas Catholic, 34-0.

Sacred Heart, a 2A school, will be playing a 3A school for the second-consecutive week.

Lafayette Christian at Loreauville:

Lafayette Christian, a 1A school, will be on the road for a second-straight week, taking on Loreauville, a 2A school, who will be playing their home opener.

Lafayette Christian defeated Elton last week, 40-36, while Loreauville lost to Franklin, 26-18.

Opelousas Catholic at Central Catholic:

This one promises to be a good one. It's a match-up of two 1-0 teams, who both won by pitching shutouts last week. Opelousas Catholic, a Class 2A school, beat Port Barre, 34-0, while Central Catholic, from the 1A ranks, blanked St. John 30-0.
