Flood Insurance Importance

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says the impending flood conditions in the state illustrate the importance of having federal flood insurance. Donelon says homeowners insurance does not cover flood, and too few Louisiana Households are covered under the national Flood Insurance Program.  Donelon says 25 percent of flood insurance claims paid last year
were in areas deemed to be on high ground and safe from flooding.
