01/12/13:  Rain continues to make an impact on the area and flooding continues to be a problem in Crowley.  Flooding has now been reported at Shetler Corley Motors on Parkerson Avenue.  That puts it right at the center of town.

Mayor Greg Jones has said that the rising water is a result of Bayou Plaquemine from the Mermentau.  Sandbags are available, but only through 3pm at the city's barn off of Highway 90 on Jack Mitchell Road.

CLECO has announced that they are cutting power to those on Rue Aline as there is fear that a short would be created or some other dangerous situation.  They are unsure how long the outage will be.

Mayor Jones said that the Mermentau was expected to crest tonight.

01/10/13:  As rain and flooding overwhelms the area, the City of Crowley has not been spared.

According to K.P. Gibson, Crowley's Police Chief, there are areas of heavy flooding in various areas of town.  Shady Oak is under a voluntary evacuation as water has made it's way into residences there.

Gibson also mentioned that flooding is affecting many roadways in both West and East Crowley.

Highway 90 through the city has been closed in several places by DOTD personnel.

Police continue to respond to calls as quickly as they can and they are mobilizing their entire department to respond to the flooding that has hit their city.
