Flooding Possible In North & Central Louisiana
A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of North and Central Louisiana. Shreveport National Weather Service forecaster Davyon Hill says several inches of rainfall are expected to fall in the next 24 hours.
"Right now, we're expecting 3 to 6 inches through tomorrow across most of the state with the heaviest totals south and east of the Shreveport area."
Hill says even though other areas have dried out from the record flooding that happened last month along the already swollen Ouachita and Red Rivers will exacerbate any flooding that occurs.
"In the Monroe area we still have rivers that are still pretty high. Actually some of them that are still in moderate to major flood stage."
The good news is this will not be an extended rainfall event. It will move out of the area in a day or so.
"Although it's going to be pretty heavy, with the 3 to 6 inch amount, this will will move out of our area by midday tomorrow."
The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until Thursday morning.
