The president of St. Mary Parish states in a press release that concerns over flooding is prompting him to call for a meeting with other local officials along with the Army Corps of Engineers. He is encouraging his colleagues to invite other officials.

Paul Naquin Junior will host a meeting with Parish Presidents, Parish officials, Municipal officials, and Levee District representatives from St. Mary, Lower St. Martin, Assumption, Lafourche, Terrebonne, and Iberville Parishes primarily to discuss and plan for backwater flood protection due to the proposed river flooding and possible opening of the Morganza Flood Gates. He also says he wants those people to bring with them safety officials, Levee Board Representatives, Parish Staff and Parish Councilmen, Police Jury Staff and Police Jurors, Municipal officials, Mayors and City Councilmen from your parish that you would like to attend as well.

Naquin is asking for a representative from the Army Corpos of engineers to join the meeting. The meeting will be tomorrow night at 6 o'clock at the Patterson Area Civic Center at 116 Cotten Road. Governor Bobby Jindal is preparing to open the Bonnet Carre Spillway as early as next Monday to ease pressure on the state's levees.
