This is a HUGE weekend for football. The three major games that the Lafayette area and much of the state will be watching are considered by many sports journalists to be high profile.

The first game is the UL Ragin Cajuns facing off against UL Monroe. Firstly, in state games are always incredibly fun to watch, but this one will likely be even more fun considering ULM's current season. The Cajuns are looking to bring their record to 5-3 after losing two weeks ago to the Arkansas Redwolves. ULM, on the other hand, hasn't lost a game in five weeks and they are playing at home. ESPN 1420's Steve Peloquin says,

ULM is the best in the conference, and their record shows that. UL is going to have to have to play harder than they have in the past few games if they are going to go over there and beat these guys, but if you look at history, the games between these two are usually pretty close.

The game kicks off at 3:00PM and can be heard on ESPN 1420 or Hot 107.9.

The next high profile game is a grudge match to end all grudge matches. The LSU Tigers vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide. This match-up is a repeat of the BCS Bowl last year in which the Tigers got creamed with a final score of 21-0. This was after the Tigers had a completely undefeated season. Many people who aren't even Tiger fans are still wanting to watch this one considering it will likely be some of the best football this weekend, and perhaps all year. The game kicks off at 7:00PM.

And finally, the Saints are hitting the field again on Sunday after losing last week to the Denver Broncos. The Saints will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles led by Michael Vick with a 3-4 record. The Saints are hoping to start turning around their 2-5 record. These two teams are considered by most to be the most desperate teams in the league. The game kicks off at 7:20PM and can be heard on 97.3 The Dawg.
