It's still too early to determine whether a system in the far east of the Caribbean Sea will develop into a tropical system, but computer models show it tracking into the Gulf of Mexico over the next ten days.

KATC-TV 3 meteorologists said nothing has actually developed yet, but computer models are still "trying to develop something that's not there yet. Models have a much easier time forecasting if it already became a tropical system, or if we have reconnaissance data."

"Anything that's seven to ten days out is very, very, very difficult, and it will change," Baker added.

Baker said El Nino has played a part in tamping down hurricane development to this point, but you should still have your plans together in case something does develop.
