A former Carencro High School football standout is now facing more legal troubles.

According to this article, 22-year-old Linebacker Trent Mackey was arrested a few weeks ago for his alleged role in a July 12 home invasion and armed robbery of a co-worker and fellow student near the Tulane campus. He was released in September on a $75,000 bond.

Mackey was then suspended from the Tulane University football team.

Now, Mackey has been booked on a new burglary charge. New Orleans Police say he was recently identified as a suspect in an early August burglary in the 600 block of Broadway Street.

Mackey, who is originally from Port Sulphur, came to Carencro High School after Hurricane Katrina. Mac Barousse, former head football coach at Carencro High, was surprised when he heard of Mackey's latest arrest.

He was a good kid...very smart, good grades and came from a good family.

Mackey was not only a star as a member of the Carencro High football team, but stood out as a member of the Green Wave, finishing last season with 145 tackles. He was even chosen by the media as the Conference USA preseason defensive player of the year.
