The Advocate reports ( ) 32-year-old Brent Ashley Rideau was booked Wednesday on counts of second-degree battery, a felony, and malfeasance in office. Rideau had worked in the prison since August 2008.

Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said Rideau was fired Aug. 29 following an internal investigation.
