Former Lafayette Parish Legislator and radio station owner Ernie Alexander passed away last night.

The former State House member is survived by his wife Shirley and services are pending at this time.   Delhomme Funeral Home will in charge of arrangement.

The Republican served the constituents of District 43 from 2000 to 2008 and prior to that he served four years on the Lafayette City Parish Council.  Alexander also served his community for many years as a classroom teacher.

Alexander was the owner of two of KPEL's sister stations, KMDL and KFTE, when he sold them to Herbie Schilling in 1994.  As Townsquaremedia General Manager Mike Grimsley points out, Alexander loved radio and never hesistated to take time to call and compliment the work going on at those stations.
