SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A former teacher at North Caddo High School has been arrested for allegedly stealing $9,000 in materials from the school.

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says 42-year-old Rodney Doyle, of Dubberly, was booked Thursday into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of felony theft.

Detective Charles Bradford says Doyle worked as a teacher in the school's welding department during the 2011-12 school year. He did not return to teach this year.

In September, school officials reported the theft of about $9,000 worth of metal taken from the welding department.

Scrap yard receipts with Doyle's name on them were found in Doyle's work desk showing that he sold metal from the school between December 2011 and April 2012. He received about $2,300 from the scrap yard for the materials.
