A retired Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office investigator surrendered to police yesterday on an allegation that he falsified paperwork.

67-year-old Nunzio Marchiafava is a former district chief based in New Orleans was booked on one felony count of filing false public records.  The arrest warrant state that Marchiafava admitted to investigators that he logged fake mileage for a trip.  He claimed that he wen to the former site of the Rusty Pelican Economy Loge.  Two people, Belle Brandle and Timothy Foret died when the place caught fire on September 26th 2012.

Marchiafava claimed to have made a trip there in May before the fire to inspect the place, but prosecutors say they did not happen.
