A former Ragin' Cajun baseball player was wounded while serving his country in Afghanistan. Sergeant John Coker, Jr. of the National Guard was shot in both legs and the pelvis during a firefight that killed three of his fellow unit members. He underwent surgery and has been transported to San Antonio. The former centerfielder played for the Cajuns during the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

Jay Walker of our sister station Sportsradio ESPN 1420 has covered Ragin' Cajuns athletics since 1984. Jay covered Coker's career as a Ragin' Cajun. He writes about the tremendous player and person that Coker is.
