A former UL Lafayette director commits suicide shortly after being fired from his job. Baton Rouge Police say Simon Broussard was found dead in his hotel room with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police say a note was found next to him, but they declined to say what that note said.

Broussard was the former head of the Transit and Parking Office at UL. He was terminated from that position last week. Sergeant Billy Abrams with University Police says they are investigating a complaint of theft from that office, but he would not confirm if Broussard was the subject of that complaint.

Baton Rouge Police say their investigation is ongoing.
