A 20-year-old man from Fort Polk will spend a year in prison after being sentenced by a federal judge for committing a burglary at Fort Polk.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says Dakota Yarbrough was sentenced by U.S. District Richard T. Haik Thursday on the one count of simple burglary.

Yarbrough will also be required to pay a $164.10 in restitution, and once his year in prison is up, the man will be under two years of probation.

Yarbrough entered his guilty plea on July 17. As part of the plea deal, Yarbrough plead guilty to going into a Fort Polk home and stealing a laptop and wallet.

He also got into a car outside another home on the base, and he took cash and debit card.
