Four Opelousas residents were arrested early Wednesday morning following two drug raids in the city.

Officer Darren Zachary with the Opelousas Police Department says they began an investigation into the four after receiving several drug complaints in their neighborhoods.

Two homes were targeted in the drug raid. Zachary says police found two pounds of marijuana, a weigh scale, and $420 in suspected drug money at the home on Union Street. 16 ziploc bags of marijuana, a weigh scale, and a rock of crack cocaine were found at the home on Lombard Street, Zachary says.

The drugs were worth an estimated $2,000, Zachary says.

To add to the list of drug charges, Zachary says both homes were within 2,000 feet of a church.

20-year-old Lee Sam, Jr., 18-year-old Jacob Robbins, 32-year-old Charleston Willis, and 42-year-old Grace Harper, all of Opelousas, were booked into the Opelousas City Jail on various drug charges.
