Lafayette firefighter's spokesperson Alton Trahan says that four people were able to make it out of home on Indian Mound Road this morning when the house caught fire right around midnight.

Lafayette firefighters say it took them about 45 minutes of work to be able to put the blaze out.  The house sustained heavy fire damage.

The owner of the home, Juanita Burleigh, says she, her son, grand daughter and another member of the family were asleep when they began to smell smoke in the home, but all of them escaped without injuries.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
