Update – St. Martinville Man Dies From Crash On Pont Des Mouton Road

Update 2:13 p.m. May 21, 2012: Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says 56-year-old Darryl Melancon of St. Martinville, a passenger in the Ford Taurus, has passed away.

1:56 p.m. May 16, 2012: A crash on Pont Des Mouton Road earlier Wednesday sent four people to the hospital.

Cpl. Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says the accident happened around 10:40 a.m. when a Mazda going west on Pont Des Mouton hit a Ford Taurus that was entering the westbound lane of Pont Des Mouton from the northbound I-49 off ramp.

The driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries; the passenger is in critical condition. Both people in the Mazda suffered minor to moderate injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The roadway is now open to traffic.
