A voluntary recall has been issued by National Foods Corporation due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination. The products involved include frozen peas and mixed vegetables sold under the brand names Great Value, Bountiful Harvest, First Street, Live Smart, Market Pantry, and Sprouts Farmers Market.

From the FDA:

Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Following cooking preparation instructions on the labels will effectively reduce the risk of exposure to this bacterium.

Consumers should not consume these products. Consumers who purchased affected products may return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
